Celebrating 250 Years of the U.S. Army: A Legacy of Service, Sacrifice, and Strength

June 14, 2025 marks a monumental milestone: 250 years since the founding of the United States Army. From its inception in 1775 to the modern battlefield, the Army has stood as a pillar of national defense and a symbol of the enduring American spirit.

At National Defense Lab, we honor the legacy of the Army—not only as a defense institution, but as a living testament to duty, honor, and country. The values embodied by every soldier echo through our own mission: to advance technologies and strategies that protect liberty, preserve peace, and prepare for the complex threats of tomorrow.

The Birth of a Force

On June 14, 1775, the Continental Congress established the Continental Army to confront British forces during the American Revolution. General George Washington was appointed its Commander-in-Chief, beginning a lineage of leadership that continues to this day. What began as a band of citizen-soldiers has evolved into one of the most formidable fighting forces in the world.

250 Years of Transformation

Over two and a half centuries, the U.S. Army has transformed through innovation, resilience, and adaptability. From the fields of Yorktown to the sands of Iraq and the mountains of Afghanistan, soldiers have faced the full spectrum of warfare. Today’s Army is as much about cyber defense, space operations, and humanitarian response as it is about boots on the ground.

This evolution mirrors the mission of National Defense Lab: to stay ahead of the curve, to anticipate tomorrow’s threats, and to support the defense community with cutting-edge, AI-driven technologies and strategic foresight.

A Grateful Salute

We recognize that no technology, no strategy, and no institution surpasses the value of human will and courage. The heart of the Army has always been the soldier—the men and women who serve selflessly, train relentlessly, and sacrifice for something greater than themselves.

To the millions who have worn the uniform, and to those who continue to serve today:

We salute you. We thank you. We stand with you.

Looking Ahead

As the Army looks to the next 250 years, it must do so with vision—leveraging artificial intelligence, advanced cybersecurity, autonomous systems, and strategic deterrence. These are the very frontiers where National Defense Lab operates.

We are proud to support the modernization and readiness of U.S. defense institutions. In doing so, we ensure that the Army’s next chapter is not only one of continued strength—but also of strategic superiority in an era of global complexity.

“This We’ll Defend.”

A motto that transcends time. A mission that defines a nation.
